This full-service renovation of a seaside cottage in Manhattan Beach, California was designed to create a relaxed, surfside home with soul - balancing airy tones with clean lines and earthy mid-century modern influences. Our scope included floor plan development, construction drawings, material and fixture selections, custom millwork design, construction oversight, and furnishing selections. Throughout the home, we looked for opportunities to preserve and highlight its existing character while improving functionality. In the kitchen, we uncovered the original shiplap ceiling, bringing texture and history back into the space, while custom cabinetry and natural honed marble created a more functional and cohesive design.

The primary bathroom floor plan was reworked to make better use of the existing footprint, with materials and fixtures selected to continue the home’s warm, understated coastal palette. Two additional bathrooms were designed with custom millwork and playful tile choices.

From architectural details and custom millwork to lighting, furnishings, and finishing touches, each element was considered as part of a larger vision: a Manhattan Beach coastal cottage that feels collected, casual, and deeply connected to its seaside setting.
